Chey Institute for Advanced Studies hosts a number of multilateral conferences, offering a platform for in-depth discussions on various risks caused by geopolitics and scientific innovation.

Main Forum

  • Korea-US-China Trilateral Dialogue

    Chey Institute for Advanced Studies launched the Korea-US-China Trilateral Dialogue with the belief that communication among the three countries is critical and necessary for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia. It has since established itself as a leading forum for track-two discussions on Northeast Asian political and economic affairs. The dialogue is organized jointly with the Brookings Institution and Peking University.

  • Korea-US-China Trilateral Conference

    Chey Institute for Advanced Studies launched the Korea-US-China Trilateral Conference with the belief that communication among the three countries is critical and necessary for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia. It has since established itself as a leading forum for track-two discussions on Northeast Asian political and economic affairs. The first trilateral conference mainly addressed US-China relations, North Korea's nuclear problem and other trade issues. Subsequent conferences have dealt with problems related to scientific innovation and its impact on geopolitical risks as well. The conference is co-organized by the Chey Institute, Harvard Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, and Peking University.

Other Forums

Since 2004, the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies has been hosting the International Confucian Forum in collaboration with Renmin University of China. Focusing on Confucianism, the essence of Eastern philosophy, the forum aims to explore ways to overcome the crises and challenges facing Asia-and humanity as a whole-and to contribute to the advancement of human society.

Since 2015, the Chey Institute has also hosted the Nanjing Forum with Nanjing University, the Tianjin Forum with Nankai University, and the Shandong Forum with Shandong University. These global forums aim to promote regional cooperation and to share wisdom that enables flexible responses to the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing era.
