The Realistic Future of Human Life
- 1st CHEY Scientific Innovation Conference
Chey Institute for Advanced Studies held its inaugural Scientific Innovation Conference entitled “The Realistic Future of Human Life” on July 31-August 1, 2019. A total of 16 distinguished scholars joined to deliver their invaluable expertise and the in-depth discussion on AI, nanomaterials, bioengineering, neuroscience, and quantum technology. Almost 1,000 audiences attended the 2-day-long conference to get a glimpse of where we are and where we are going with the advancement of science and technology.
The Plenary Session was joined by Prof. Paul ALIVISATOS (Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, UC Berkeley) and Prof. Stephen BOYD (Chair of Electrical Engineering, Stanford).
At the "Session 1 - Artificial Intelligence", Profs. Takeo KANADE (CMU), Byoung-Tak ZHANG (SNU), Mingoo SEOK (Columbia) talked about the past, current, and the future of AI technologies.
"Session 2 - Life Science" focused on the current trends in the biological and bioengineering research where Profs. Taeghwan HYEON (SNU), Taekjip HA (JHU), Sang Yup LEE (KAIST), and V. Narry KIM (SNU) shared their invaluable expertise.
The second day of the conference started with "Session 3 - Neurosciences" inviting Profs. Marvin CHUN (Yale), Daeyeol LEE (JHU), Jin Hyung LEE (Stanford), Kwanghun CHUNG (MIT). They introduced the cutting-edge technologies for understanding how human brain works.
The last session "Session 4 - Quantum Science and Technology" was joined by Profs. Hongkun PARK (Harvard), Philip KIM (Harvard), and Jiwoong PARK (UChicago) who guided the audience to A to Z of the quantum world.
Chey Institute will continue to develop the Scientific Innovation Conference and Lecture Series to provide an international platform to discuss the potential and risks of scientific and technological innovation.
