On June 30, 2026, the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies (Chey Institute) co-hosted the 2026 Trilateral Economic Seminar (TES) with the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) under the theme, “Green Economic Transition for Sustainable Growth.”

The TES is one of the TCS’s annual flagship programs, serving as an important platform for the launch of the Trilateral Economic Report (TER) and for discussions on economic cooperation among China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. This year, the TCS co-hosted the seminar with the Chey Institute, bringing together speakers invited by both institutions to examine the economic conditions and challenges facing the three countries and to explore pathways toward a green economic transition for sustainable growth.

The seminar addressed a wide range of issues confronting China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, including population aging, AI governance, Korea–Japan economic cooperation amid U.S.–China trade tensions, and the transition toward a green economy. Participants examined the challenges facing the three countries from multiple perspectives and explored possible solutions together.

The seminar provided a meaningful opportunity to gain a broader understanding of the economies of the three countries through diverse perspectives, while also allowing participants to better understand their respective positions and priorities.
