On January 3rd of 2020, the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies hosted its fifth Deep Dive Session titled "2020 Geopolitical Outlook: Catastrophe or Breakthrough". The session was aimed at assessing the recent political turbulence on the Korea Peninsula. Major topics included likely scenario if the US-North Korea negotiations fail and the response of relevant states, ROK-US alliance and the issue of burden-sharing, possible withdrawal of US troops. More than 50 Korean experts participated in this close session, discussing intensively the geopolitical future of this region.
