The Chey Institute for Advanced Studies, in collaboration with Fudan University, hosted the 20th Shanghai Forum from April 24 to 26, 2026, under the theme “The Age of Reconfiguration: Innovation and Global Governance.”
This year, through a special address by Ban Ki-moon, the forum underscored the urgent need for inclusive and cooperative global governance that goes beyond state-centric approaches, amid the coexistence of rapid technological innovation and rising geopolitical tensions. He presented four guiding principles—shared responsibility, open multilateralism, trust in the digital age, and global citizenship—offering a forward-looking vision for the future governance.
